HAUS worked closely with Team Detroit as part of a massive new campaign for Ford centered around their new slogan, "By Design." Taking a fresh approach to previous campaigns, "By Design" breaks the Ford script out of its iconic oval container, layering it with trippy, attention-demanding visuals to evoke the stylish, techy and fun-to-drive qualities of Ford’s latest vehicles. Our task was twofold– to design and develop the interactive component to the campaign as well as establish entirely new visuals for use in both online and out-of-home ads.

We put users behind the wheel of the By Design campaign– giving them artistic license to create their own unique design with dynamic, code-driven smoke, dust and fractal effects. HAUS also developed an intelligent system to automagically coordinate with partner ClearChannel to deliver fresh designs to billboards across the country, ensuring that everyone got screen time in the city of their choice. Once a completed design went live, a cleverly placed camera snapped a selfie of the billboard. The photo was emailed back to the artist to download or share. The campaign spread like wildfire on social media, due in part to low barrier-to-entry functionality but also the ability to access the experience from virtually any device, from phones and tablets to desktop computers.
